General Description

Perfect for rock gardens and stone wall crevices, the white-flowered alpine geranium shines in early summer when it becomes covered with small, white, cupped blooms. It is a tiny, mounding, evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial native to the mountainous regions of of the western Mediterranean islands of Majorica and Corsica.

Small, heart-shaped, dark green leaves cover this plant all season. They are lightly hairy, have scalloped edges and a slight fragrance. From late spring to midsummer, small flowers appear across the mass of foliage. Each bloom is five-petaled and white.

Grow alpine geranium in a gritty, humus-rich soil that is alkaline and perfectly drained. It is essential to keep its root crown dry in the winter, otherwise root and crown rot will occur.
