Tatsoi (Brassica rapa subsp. narinosa or Brassica rapa var. rosularis) is an Asian variety of Brassica rapa grown for greens. This plant has become popular in North American cuisine as well, and is now grown throughout the world.
The plant has dark green spoon-shaped leaves which form a thick rosette. It has a soft creamy texture and has a subtle yet distinctive flavour.
It can be grown to harvestable size in 45–50 days, and can withstand temperatures down to –10 °C (15 °F). Tatsoi can even be harvested from under snow.

Tarasai (scientific name: Brassica rapa var. Narinosa) is native to China and is a cold-resistant annual vegetables of Brassicaceae Brassica. In winter, leaves are edible as green-yellow vegetables. The leaves are dark green and rounded spatula type, and the outer leaves overlap each other as they crawl over the ground without forming a ball. Cultivation period is short and harvest year round. As leaves are thick and soft, they do not disintegrate or boil, so there is no habit of taste, so soup and fried foods etc are made into Chinese food materials. As a nutritional ingredient, it contains carotene, vitamin C, iron content abundantly. In the spring, an aggregated flower of yellow florets will bloom.
