The Croton Petra is a robust plant with large colorful leaves. These plants can mature to large indoor house plants if properly cared for.

Croton 'Petra' (Codiaeum variegatum) is a beautifully colored plant native to Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia.  It has wide, colorful leaves in shades of yellow, orange and red. Croton 'Petra' has a woody stem and is technically considered an evergreen shrub. It can grow in size to 10' tall when planted outside in tropical climates and after a number of years.

 

 

 

Water normally and don't allow the soil to remain wet. Allow to dry between watering. Crotons love humidity and will appreciate a humidity tray beneath the pot,  but will also do well in common household humidity levels. Crotons are sensitive plants to being moved and will go into shock and drop leaves. This is completely normal and the leaves will grow back quickly. It is best to pick a spot in the home and try not to move the plant too much. They are also sensitive to temperatures and will drop leaves if the temp gets below 60 degrees.
