This tough shrubby tender perennial produces simple buttercream daisies for continuous bloom that begins early and ends very late in the season. Vanilla Butterfly was introduced by Four Star Greenhouse in Carlton, Michigan and is marketed by Flower Fields of Encinitas, California. Where hardy, it is grown as a drought tolerant subshrub, but in temperate zones with cold winters it is grown as a bedding annual.

Marguerite daisy is shrubby and clump-forming. Its ferny evergreen leaves are bright green, deeply lobed and emit a strong fragrance when crushed. Large, pale yellow to ivory daisies with bright yellow eyes cover Vanilla Butterfly® through much of the year. They are produced above the foliage and appear from late spring till frost or almost year round in frost free climates. Flowering subsides in very hot weather and deadheading will prolong vigorous bloom.

This easy-to-grow plant prefers full sun and moderately fertile garden soil with good drainage. Regular light pruning will promote a tidy habit, increase flowering and provide cuttings for propagation. Plants are wind and salt tolerant, so they are ideal for oceanside gardens, containers, or sunny garden beds. The blooms draw butterflies and can also be cut for flower arrangements.
