Centropogon urubambae E.Wimm. (worldfloraonline.org)
Description: A glabrous shrub with climbing branches, often overhanging at the end. Leaves alternate, ovate to lanceolate, about 4.5 cm long and 1.5 cm wide, somewhat wrinkled on the surface, narrowed to wedge-shaped at the base, finely serrated, pointed at the apex; petiole is about 1 cm long. Inflorescence is an elongated, sparse raceme, often pendulous; bracts lanceolate; peduncles up to 3 cm long; the combed is compressedly spherical, about 7 mm in diameter; sepals linear to filiform, 6–7 mm long, spreading; obtuse at the apex; corolla tubular, about 3.5 cm long, curved, red or pink; stamens 5, with glabrous threads and about 7 mm long pubescent anther tube; the single-capsule ovary is composed of 3 carpels. The fruit is a berry.
Note: Compared to most other species of the numerous South and Central American genus Centropogon, this species has a characteristic type of inflorescence – the flowers form a sparse terminal raceme and grow in the axils of the bracts from the leaves of different shape and size.
