Habitat: Lithops gracilidelineataSN|12335]]SN|12335]] grows almost completely buried on weathered white quartz gravel between bigger pebbles and stones on the mountains, and look so much like the surface of ground that no one would suspect they of being plants, except when they produce their showy flowers.

Description: Lithops gracilidelineata (a.k.a Stone plant) is a lovely species that distinguishes for the creamy-white or pinkish-brown upper surface with delicate red-brown lines or dots in depressed grooves; the depressions usually slightly darker in colour than the ridges; these depressions give the top of the lobe a wrinkled appearance. The fine network of lines, which is the prominent feature of the top surface shows a great deal of variation, not only in the way it anastomises but also in its colouration.
Similar species: Lithops gracilidelineataSN|13128]]SN|12335]] is strictly related with Lithops pseudotruncatellaSN|12335]]SN|13128]].
Habit: It rarely forms more than a single head or, if branched, forms only few bodies in a clump. It is variable, but conforms to the typical lithops morphology: two thick, fleshy windowed leaves separated by a crack from which a yellow flower appears. The windowed part allows light into the inner portion of the leaf where the process of photosynthesis is carried out. Old leaves persist for one year usually, often for two years.
Bodies (paired leaves): Top-shaped, truncate in profile, flat or very slightly convex, 30-50 mm 1ong, 20-38 mm broad; fissure shallow, faces flush, round to mostly elliptic, window opaque; top rugose, consisting with a whitish tinge, which changes to a light orange-red in the old stage, and
then numerous light to dark-green miniature windows are to he seen; in the depressions delicate dark-brown lines or dots; the depressions usually slightly darker in colour than the ridges.
Flowers yellow 20-45 mm in diameter. Sepals 8 mm long, 2-3 mm broad.
Fruits: 6(-7)-chambered, profile rotund to boat-shaped.
