Origin and Habitat: Garden origin (Nursery produced cultivar)
Synonyms:
Description: Lithops gracilidelineata cv. Café au Lait (a.k.a cv. Milk & Coffee) is a lovely variety that distinguishes for the delicate pastel colours with very fine dendritic orangish decorations in slightly depressed grooves; the depressions usually slightly darker in colour than the ridges; these depressions give the top of the lobe a wrinkled appearance. The fine network of lines (like snow flakes), which is the prominent feature of the top surface shows a great deal of variation in the way it anastomises but its colouration is quite homogeneous.
Similar forms: The fine dendritic designs of Lithops gracilidelineata cv. Café au LaitSN|14117]]SN|17681]] are not exclusive of this selected cultivars, but some "Café au Lait" are often found in a small percentage in Lithops gracilidelineata C309 45 km W of Usakos, NamibiaSN|17681]]SN|14117]] which is presumably the original source of thiscultivar.
Habit: It usually forms few bodies in a clump. It is variable, but conforms to the typical Lithops morphology: two thick, fleshy windowed leaves separated by a crack from which a yellow flower appears. The windowed part allows light into the inner portion of the leaf where the process of photosynthesis is carried out. Old leaves persist for one year usually, often for two years.
Bodies (paired leaves): Top-shaped, truncate in profile, flat or very slightly convex, 30-50 mm 1ong, 20-38 mm broad; fissure shallow, faces flush, round to mostly elliptic, window opaque; top rugose, consisting with a "mylky" pastel tinge with, in the depressions, delicate pale-orangish or "coffee" dendritic lines.
Flowers: yellow 20-45 mm in diameter. Sepals 8 mm long, 2-3 mm broad.
Fruits: 6(-7)-chambered, profile rotund to boat-shaped.Lithops gracilidelineata cv. Café au Lait (llifle.com)
