Found in Assam, India and Sri Lanka in submontane and tropical wet evergreen forests at elevations of 500 to 1600 meters as a small sized, as a warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid with an erect stem carrying 3 to 5, purplish green, ovate-lanceolate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect, peduncle angled, green to purplish, 2.8 to 6" [7 to 15 cm] longoverall, rachis 1.6 to 4" 4 to 10 cm] long, rather dense, many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying yellow tinted purple flowers
