"Iwa-otogiri" (Hypericum kamtschaticum var. hondoense) belongs to the family Clusiaceae. It is a perennial herb that is distributed to northward from Chubu district to the Japan Sea side of Honshu and Hokkaido in Japan. This herb grows in sub-alpine to alpine grasslands or screes and can reach 10-20 cm in height. The leaves are elliptic, opposite and scatter many black dots and a few bright dots on the surface. The yellow flowers bloom in July to August. It is a variant of "Shinano-otogiri", characterized by slightly smaller flowers and more black spots on the inner side of the sepals than on the margins.
It is distributed mainly from the Sea of Japan side to Hokkaido north of the Honshu and Chubu regions of Japan. It grows in grasslands and gravel areas from subalpine to alpine zones, and grows to a height of 10~20 cm. The leaves are oval in shape and grow in pairs, with black spots scattered throughout, with a few light spots. It blooms from July to August with yellow flowers. It is a variant of "Shinano Fairy Ball" and is characterized by slightly smaller flowers and fewer black spots on the sepals on the edges and more on the inside.
It is a perennial herb of the Hypericum family, and its scientific name is Hypericum kamtschaticum var. hondoense. There is no English name
