Position: full sun Soil: well drained, moderately fertile soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: April to September Hardiness: tender (will need frost protection) Often grown as a showstopping, seasonal summer display, marguerites (Argyranthemum) are frost-tender perennial plants producing an abundance of daisy-like flowers. ‘Grandaisy Deep Red’ is a stunning variety with rich pink-carmine blooms that form above bushy mounds of finely-divided, grey-green foliage. Supplied as rooted cuttings, they're particularly fine for pots, and their versatility and drought resistance (once established) make them the perfect summer bedding plants for the border, too! Grown individually in cell trays, each plant measures about 7 - 10cm tall (from the base of the root to the top of the plant). Delivered in plastic-free packaging, they are ideal for keen gardeners who have a greenhouse, where the plants can be grown on until they are ready for planting outside after all risk of frost has passed. Garden care: Pot up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed or patio pot. Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushiness and apply a deep, dry mulch around the base of the plant in autumn if planted in open ground and protect with cloches or plant protection fleece if hard frost is forecast. If top growth is damaged by the cold, the plants often re-grow from the base in spring. While a perennial, marguerites are often grown as annuals.
