    Notes

Acharagma huasteca is similar in appearance to A. aguirreanum, which is usually distinguished by solitary growth, spherical to flattened spherical stem and long, narrowly funnel flower. In my opinion, this is a similar relationship to that of A. roseanum and its subspecies galeanense. For this reason, it is likely that in the future we may see a combination of A. huasteca as a subspecies of the taxon A. aguirreanum.

In addition to the collections of Z. Elhart, the taxon was discovered in 2010 by a group of Czech cacti in the area of El Pajonal, specifically by Richard Kalaš. The discovered plant was provisionally named as Escobaria aguirreana subsp. kalasii (ŠN 2010), and therefore it is possible to discover the described plant in some collections and price lists under this designation.
