A strange and bizarre, palm-like, sparsely branching shrub in the Cunoniaceae with trifid leaves, that are densely covered in bronze colored hairs when young. It is native to southern New Caledonia between 150 and 1200 m. Pancheria hirsuta is easy to grow and makes a beautiful and unusual ornamental for warm temperate climates.Cunoniaceae 쿠노니아과 
Pancheria alaternoides is an endemic shrub of the southern part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in shrubland and low forest at low and high altitude on ultramafic substrate. This species does not seem globally threatened. Pancheria alaternoides is considered Least Concern (LC).
