Juniperus flaccida is a species of conifer in the Cupressaceae family. It is found in the southern United States and Mexico.

Juniperus flaccida grows as an evergreen shrub or tree that can reach heights of up to 12, in exceptional cases up to 17 meters and chest height diameters of up to 82 centimeters. The trunk branches 1 to 2 meters above the ground. The branches, like the 0.5 to 1 centimeter thick branches, hang off the trunk and form a spherical to broadly cone-shaped crown. The grey to cinnamon or reddish-brown bark flakes off in broad, fibrous stripes. The smooth, gray bark of the branches and twigs can flake off in wide strips or plates.

The species forms two different forms of oppositely arranged leaves. The descending needles are 4 to 6 millimeters long and are not tired at the top. The scale-shaped leaves are ovate to oblong-ovate with a length of 1.5 to 2.5 millimeters and a width of 1 to 1.5 millimeters. They have a rounded or tapered tip and overlap each other to one-fifth to one-quarter of their length. All leaf forms are green, oblong shaped, have finely toothed leaf edges, whereby the perforation is only recognizable under the microscope. Furthermore, they have a gland on the underside of the leaf.

Juniperus flaccida is dioecious (dioecious) and the flowering period extends from late winter to late spring. The berry cones are spherical in shape with a diameter of 0.5 to 2 centimeters and have a straight or curved stem. When ripe, they become lignified and are light brown to brownish purple in color and frosted. Each cone carries 1 to 13 seeds which are 3 to 6 millimeters long and 3 to 4 millimeters wide.
