Begonia ‘Kit Kat’ is a clump forming rhizomatous Begonia displaying asymmetrical, rounded, dusty green leaves with radiant chartreuse-green spots. Displays sporadic, upright clusters of light pink flowers.

Begonias grow best in well-drained, humus-rich soil with moderate water. Apply a slow-release fertilizer sparingly in spring. Beautiful accent plant for borders and containers, or grow as houseplants! Protect from freezing temperatures!

Begonias are tender perennials, grown for their colorful flowers and foliage. Most begonias can be grown outdoors in pots, in the ground, or in hanging baskets in filtered light and moist, but well drained soil. Where not hardy, grow as annuals or indoors as houseplants. Most begonias can be propagated from leaf, stem or rhizome cuttings in addition to being sown from seed. The cultivar, ‘Kit Kat’, grows from a creeping rhizome. The foliage is very attractive, featuring small, unincised leaves. The flowers are pink to white and bloom winter through spring. This plant enjoys filtered light but can take some sun in winter. Soil should ideally be moist. Begonias grow very well in peat-based compost also. Likes humidity. Hardy. Does not like cold weather. Pinching tips and pruning outer stems in the growing season gives a bushier plant, good for hanging baskets. Remove dead foliage to prevent disease.

Spotted in chartreuse, the small greenish bronze leaves engulf the dwarf mounding form of this compact rhizomatous. Winter brings a burst of flowers as the spikes stand tall and mature into plumes of delicate, white-blushed pink blooms. A great subject for limited space on the windowsill or in a light garden, as it grows no more than 6-8" tall. The compact form and reliable vigor make this an all around winner for the home.
