Azalea Albert Elizabeth
The Belgian Indian azaleas are the result of crosses between many different species, including R. simsii and R. mucronatum. They were originally bred as greenhouse forcing plants. Small, bushy, evergreen azalea with lush, glossy, dark green leaves, 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 inches long. Flowers are borne profusely in large, showy trusses from late winter to early spring. Plant as you would any of the other azaleas: high and in well-drained, acid soil, rich with organic matter. Excellent choice for growing indoors in containers. Can be grown outdoors where winter temperatures do not fall below 20 degrees F.
