Dwarf Hard Carnation

(=‘HILAMBER’) The Sunflor® pot carnations can be used both indoors and outdoors, will flower from spring until late autumn, and are completely hardy. Plants form a neat compact mound of grassy foliage smothered with fully double flowers. This selection features soft yellow flowers on short sturdy stems held above attractive, compact, grey-green foliage. Added bonus of a wonderful spicy-clove fragrance. Excellent for containers, rock gardens and borders. Drought tolerant and easy to grow. Prefers well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Good drainage is essential for winter hardiness. Evergreen. Bred in The Netherlands.

Plants form a low mound of grassy grey-green leaves, bearing upright stems of fully double, florist-type flowers with soft yellow petals. Wonderful spicy-clove fragrance. Excellent for cutting. Good drainage is essential for winter hardiness. Plants perform best in areas with cool summers. Divide clumps every second spring, or plant new ones to maintain vigour. Evergreen.

Description: Creamy yellow fully double flowers. Common name: Carnation

Sow from May to July for flowering plants in June the following year or sow in January for a late flowering crop in July/August. Using a 286 plug tray or slightly larger sized unit, sow on to the surface of a moist well drained seed sowing compost lightly cover the seed with vermiculite and propagate at 15 to 18C. Germination should take place after 2 weeks.
