Tillandsia magnusiana is a species in the genus Tillandsia. This species is native to southern and western Mexico (Jalisco, Veracruz, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas), El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras.

Tillandsia magnusiana is a soft, silver leaved species that prefers  good air movement.  It is a species that can be grown horizontally so that the bottom of the plant is on a vertical axis. Growing the plant in this way helps because it prevents water from collecting at the base of the leaves which can oftentimes cause the plant to rot.  Tillandsia magnusiana grows a thick, maroon, simple spike that then produces the typical grape violet blooms for subgenus Tillandsia. Tillandsia magnusiana graced the cover of the original Genus Tillandsia booklet that sold over 100,000 copies from the 1970s to the 1990s. It likes cooler temps and good air in order to thrive. The plants we offer are some 5 cm in diameter.
