Origin

The Chiefland Budwood Facility (2010) provided the following notes on the cultivar (clone DPI-132): "Was developed in Japan as a cross between Kiyomi and Ponkan. Dekopon was originally a brand name, it has become a genericized trademark and it is used to refer to all brands of the fruit; the generic name is shiranuhi or shiranui....Entered Florida through CGIP and released in 2009."

Crown compact or dense, not weeping. First year twig surface glabrous; second or third year twig surface striate; thorns absent or not persistent; prickles absent or not persistent. Petiole glabrous, length medium, wings medium, adjoining the blade. Leaflets one, margin crenate/crenulate or bluntly toothed, shade leaflet blades flat or weakly conduplicate, sun leaflet blades flat or weakly conduplicate. Leaflets mandarin-like when crushed. Fruit as broad as long or longer than broad, rind yellow (7-10), yellow-orange (11) or orange (12), rind texture slightly rough (4-5), firmness leathery, navel absent, flesh orange, taste acidic-sweet.
