Aptenia Variegata Heartleaf Ice Plant is a nice trailing succulent that is perfect for baskets, planters and border landscaping. The smooth green and cream, heart shaped leaves are speckled with magenta blooms in the summer and fall. Native to South Africa, this plant can handle full sun, hot temperatures and drought conditions. Aptenia succulents should be planted in an area with partial shade to full sun.

This variety of Heartleaf Ice Plant should be protected from frost or it will die. Where we are located, hardiness zone 8, these plants have survived winters without protection.
