Hydrangea Macrophylla Jogasaki로 정정

General Description

Flat clusters of silvery-pink to silvery lavender-blue flowers that resemble fireworks occur on the Jogosaki hydrangea. This selection of bigleaf hydrangea is a deciduous flowering shrub with large, glossy dark green leaves and a bushy habit. In summer it produces flower clusters on branch tips that vary between pink to blue (soil pH dependent). Central in the flattened cluster are the tiny fertile flowers surrounded by the showy white sterile flowers with increased numbers of petal-like sepals. The sterile flowers jut out on long stalks. The dried flowers and fruits are an attractive beige to sandy brown.

Selection 'Jogasaki' grows best in amply moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil and will happily grow in nearly full sun to partial shade. Keep the soil constantly moist if in full sun exposures. Plants bloom on the previous year’s wood, so pruning should occur only immediately after they flower. In colder regions of its hardiness range, winters will kill stems back to the ground; mulch the roots for best overwintering here. This is a landscape shrub for informal hedges, partially shaded borders and spacious foundation beds. Its blooms make wonderful, long-lasting cutflowers. Adding lime to the soil (results in more alkalinity) makes pinker blooms while adding aluminum sulfate causes more acidic soil and flowers with hints of pale lavender or blue.
