Euphorbia DIAMOND FROST belongs to the spurge family like poinsettia. The habit is unusually with continuous growth and blooming. For every inch the stems will branch and produce two tiny snow white flowers, then again a branching with two small flowers and then again and again, soon resulting in a small, regular cloud of flowers.
Diamond Frost might look delicate and fragile, but nothing could be further from the truth – it is actually pretty tough. It prefers a sunny and warm position, yet is one of the plants which perform best after a wet and cool summer, and it does surprisingly well in shady conditions, too.
These outstanding and unusual flowering qualities make Diamond Frost ideal for multiple uses as a single as well as in combinations, e.g. in patios and terraces, where its profusion of airy white flowers will brighten any spot. As a single plant on the terrace it requires only minimal care – the flowers are very small and will quickly shrivel after flowering leaving almost no traces of withered flowers or leaves.

학명 : Euphorbia hypericifolia 'inneuphe'

유통명으로 브레스리스, 다이아몬드프로스트 등으로 불린다. 높이는 15~50 cm정도이다.
줄기는 곧게 서고 줄기 끝에서 V자 형태로 갈라지며 사방으로 퍼지면서 가지를 많이 친다.
잎은 마주나고  둥근 타원형으로 끝은 뾰족하며 잎맥이 뚜렷하다. 잎 가장자리는 밋밋하고 잎자루가 있다.

꽃은 봄~가을까지 흰색으로 안개꽃처럼 작은 꽃이 핀다. 꽃잎은 아주 작고 흰색과 붉은 빛이 도는 듯한 색깔이다.
초록색 꽃 봉오리 위에 피어난 암술과 수술이 보석 반지가 빛나는 것 같은 모습이다.

식물체 줄기와 잎은 상처가 나면 우유빛 수액이 나오는데 독성이 있어 눈과 피부에 주의해야한다.
아메리카 원산지이다. 지피식물(Ground Covet)로 적합하여 화분에 키우거나 걸이용으로 많이 키운다.

관리는 햇볕보다는 밝은 그늘에 두어야 한다.
물주기는 화분의 속흙이 마를때쯤 준다.

꽃말은 '너를 만나고 싶다' 이다.

최근 다양한 화훼 원예식물이 시장에서 유통되고 있어 소비자의 선택 폭이 넓어지고 있다. 화훼류 생산농가 및 소비자의 이해를 돕기 위해 새로운 화훼식물에 대한 정보를 사진자료와 함께 연재한다. ■ 국립종자원 재배시험과 유포르비아히페리키폴리아의 학명은 Euphorbia hypericifolia ‘Inneuphe’ DIAMOND FROST?이고, 영명은 Chickenweed, Large Spotted Spurge이며, 과명은 대극과(Euphorbiaceae)이다. 원산지는 아메리카 대륙으로 분화로 이용되고 있는 여러해살이풀로 30~50cm까지 자란다. 꽃잎모양의 덮개잎은 작고 흰색 또는 분홍색으로 오랫동안 관상가치가 있다. 회색빛을 띠는 잎은 길이 2~3cm정도로 긴 타원에서 타원모양으로 마주난다. 봄부터 가을까지 꽃이 피는 기간이 길고 안개꽃을 연상하게 하는 작은 흰 꽃이 아름다워서 다양한 용도로 사용할 수 있다. 충분한 햇빛을 받을 수 있는 곳에서 기른다. 더위와 건조에 강한 편이다. 물빠짐이 잘되는 토양을 좋아하므로, 햇빛이 적은 곳에서 토양의 물빠짐이 나쁘거나 너무 물을 많이 주면 뿌리가 썩기 쉽다. 성질이 강건하고 생육이 왕성하므로 수시로 비료를 주는 것이 좋다. 다룰 때 식물체를 자르면 나오는 유액이 피부에 닿지 않도록 한다. 진딧물, 깍지벌레, 응애가 발생하기도 한다.
