Native to the New World tropics, dieffenbachias are tender evergreen perennials renowned for their attractive foliage and robust constitution. The aptly named hybrid cultivar ‘Compacta’ offers not only a relatively petite, dense habit, but also handsome broad rich green leaves liberally painted with creamy-white variegation. Flowers and fruits are rarely if ever produced. As its lower leaves are shed its stem becomes more evident.
