DiagnosticSuperficially similar to Rhaphidophora australasica but readily separated by its flowering on free lateral shoots, by the flat-topped styles and the smaller, narrower, much more coriaceous leaves. In addition, being a montane species, R. kokodensis is separated altitudinally.
