Phlegmariurus carinatus (Desv.) Ching

Phlegmariurus carinatus is a widespread but scarce species from Asia and Oceania. There is a small population in north-eastern Australia where it is considered endangered. I have observed it in Australia and Asia and it has mostly been a high canopy epiphyte growing in well lit and exposed conditions in rainforest. The variation in this species from Asia to Australia is unbelievable. These photographs from one of our trips to Cape York Peninsula rainforests.
