PLANT STORY

This species is a member of the guanabana family and is sometimes found in flooded ecosystems and prefers regions with a marked dry season. The tree grows from 4 to 12 meters and is characterized by its small leaves and its pyramidal crown with long branchlets that arch upward. Its flowers are white with a sweet aroma, and its small fruits are yellowish in color. The species has potential to beautify gardens and parks due to its impressive, beautiful architecture. In Costa Rica it is distributed in the North Zone and the Pacific slope of the Valle del General, Valle del Térraba and Valle de Coto Brus, between 30 to 1100 meters above sea level. Outside the country, it is distributed from Guatemala to southern Brazil.

It is distributed from Guatemala to southern Brazil.
