General Information

Geophila repens is a creeping, evergreen, perennial herb growing up to 10cm tall and often forming dense close colonies in shaded places
The plant is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use as a food and medicine. It can be grown as a ground cover plant in shady places.

Range

Original habitat is obscure, but the plant is found in the tropics and subtropics of Africa, Asia, through the Pacific to the Americas and Caribbean.

Habitat

Wet thickets and forests of the hot lowlands of both coasts of Guatemala, at elevations up to 700 metres. It is often a weed in banana plantations.

Shaded forest floor in evergreen or partly deciduous forest formations
