Lianas; stems cylindrical or subcylindrical, glabrous or very variously pubescent; inconspicuous interpetiolar choleters. Leaves with petioles 3-15 mm; Laminae 3-9.5 × (0.7-)1-3.5(-4.5) cm, narrowly elliptical to very narrowly elliptical, membraceous, glabrous, or very variably pubescent, the choleters scattered along the central nerve, the base auriculate, the apex acute, short-acuminate, or mucronulate. Inflorescences shorter or longer than adjacent leaves, with 4-12 flowers; peduncle 0.9-3.7 cm; pedicels 4-7 mm, bracts 2-5 × 0.5-1 mm, tiny. Flowers with sepals 2.5-3.5 mm, ovate, apex acuminate; corolla hypocrateriomorphic, yellow with tube throat and base lobes red, glabrescent or variably pubescent on the outside, tube 2–3.5 cm, gibbous at base, hairy on the inside and inflated around stamens, throat 2–3 mm in diameter, lobes 1–1.6 cm × 6–9 mm, obovate, extended, and partially marginally reflexed; anthers 4-5 mm, inserted in the distal third of the tube; ovary 1.5-2 mm, glabrous; nectaries separated or concrescent basally, indistinctly shorter or longer than the ovary. Follicles 9-22.5 cm × c. 2 mm, conspicuously moniliform, glabrous to glabrescent; seeds 6-8 mm. Edges of forests, savannahs, grasslands.
