Zingiber sp.식물/들꽃-생강과(Zingiberaceae) 2025. 2. 15. 15:19
Zingiber sp.
Description: This species was also lacking flowers, so it could not be identified below genus level, but the presence of a pulvinus allowed it to be placed in Zingiber. (The flower and bract characteristics described for other Zingiber species can also be applied here, based on this classification. See entry for Species 17.) This species is distinguished from the other non-flowering Zingiber described here by its short, cleft ligule and short petiole.
Distribution: Deramakot
Ecology/Habitat: Found in a somewhat denser understory with darker canopy than the other Zingiber, but also within the formerly logged plots at Deramakot.Species 14- Zingiber sp. (phylodiversity.org)
Description: This species, although unidentified, displays the distinctive pulvinus and cone inflorescence of the Zingiber genus. Cones are long, narrow, and composed of closed green bracts. Peduncle is short, but the cones are still held aboveground. Flowers are yellow and tubular. Ligule is long and cleft, with a short petiole present that distinguishes it from other Zingiber in this monograph.
Distribution: Deramakot
Ecology/Habitat: Also found in the open canopy understory of the logged plots at Deramakot.Species 13- Zingiber sp. (phylodiversity.org)
Description: Vegetative stalks tall, with distinctive pulvinus, short petiole, and long, cleft ligule. Basal flower cones are long and narrow, with red, tightly-spaced bracts. Bracts appear greenish-yellow before cones are mature. Flower color unknown.
Distribution: Sepilok
Ecology/Habitat: Planted at the Sepilok Rainforest Discovery Center in dry clay soil. Natural habitat unknown.Species 20- Zingiber sp. (phylodiversity.org)
Description: As characteristic of the genus, flowers are held in a cone on a basal stalk with pulvinus present. Bracts are red and tightly spaced. Peduncle very short, keeping cone close to the ground. Ligule very short, not extending far beyond the leaf base, and cleft. Petiole short. Leaf undersides hairy.
Distribution: Sepilok
Ecology/Habitat: Found in the Sepilok Rainforest Discovery Center Botanical Gardens. Natural distribution and habitat unknown.Species 26- Zingiber sp. (phylodiversity.net)
characteristic of the genus. Ligule very short, ending near the leaf base, and cleft. No petiole. Leaf underside is dark reddish-purple, and leaf sheathing is outlined in red, especially in new growth.
Distribution: Sepilok
Ecology/Habitat: Planted in the Sepilok Rainforest Discovery Center Botanical Gardens. Natural habitat preferences unknown.Species 25- Zingiber sp. (phylodiversity.net)
