Bulbophyllum makoyanum (Rchb.f) Ridl. 1879 has been primarily named by Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach as Cirrhopetalum makoyanum Rchb.f 1879 in honour to its provider Jacob-Macoy Lambert (1790-1873) a Belgian horticulturist and plant collector. Bulbophyllum makoyanum s, commonly called Daisy Orchid, is native to Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The small, spiky flowers reach lengths of about 5 cm and are fragrant. The smell isn´t nice, but also not offensive. Flowering period: all the year round. Bulbophyllum makoyanum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
The epiphytic growing tropical orchid requires an intermediate to warm, humid climate, a shady location and a good air circulation to avoid fungal infections.
During the growth season plants should be kept moist, but not wet. During dormancy waterings should be restricted, the potting medium should dry out between waterings.Bulbophyllum makoyanum (Rchb.f.) Ridl. | Plants of the World Online | Kew Science
