C. linearis is a robust species, that makes a nice full (and large) basket when well grown. It is the source of much of the pink color in Columnea hybrids. It is characterized by relatively long and narrow leaves on a bushy, generally spreading rather than trailing, plant. The rosy-pink flowers are produced quite freely. It makes an excellent basket plant for greenhouses or bright windows.
