Plants blooms from summer to early fall with a single successive 10 cm wide flower.

Plant are found growing near riversides and water falls in Colombia, Venezuela, the Guianas, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil at elevations around 700 to 1400 meters, in Brazil (Bahia) are found near to ocean, elevation 30 meters.

Grow in partial sun usually in warm temperatures. Plants can be grown in sandy soil or bark with perlite. Keep the mix moist but not wet during growing season. Reduce watering after leaves develop. Never let the mix dry out for long periods
