Erucastrum nasturtiifolium - Wikipedia
Erucastrum nasturtiifolium is a species of plant in the family Brassicaceae and genus Erucastrum.
Description
Erucastrum nasturtiifolium is a one- or two-year-old, overwintering green herbaceous plant that reaches a height of 30 to 80 centimetres. The stem is erect, angularly furrowed, hairy at the base and branched. The basal leaves are petiolate. The leaves are pinnate or lyre-shaped with four to eight sections of leaves on each side. They are on average 10 to 15 cm long and 4 to 6 cm wide. Their shape is strikingly reminiscent of Jacobaea vulgaris. Leaf sections are coarsely toothed to squarely lobed, rarely have nearly entire margins, and are usually snagged backwards at the base by a remarkably prominent lobe. The lowest pair of leaflets is usually pointing downwards and surrounds the stem like an ear. The upper leaves of the stem gradually decrease in size and dispersal
The flowering period runs from April to August. Many flowers are gathered in an inflorescence that is initially umbrella-shaped, which then becomes racemose due to the significant elongation of the inflorescence axis until the fruit matures. There are no bracts in the inflorescence or only in the lowest one to three flowers. The flower stems are hairless and about 5 to 12 mm long. The hermaphrodite flowers are quadruple. The four sepals are hairy, 4 to 8 mm long, elongated elliptical in shape and protruding almost horizontally. The four rich yellow petals are 8 to 15 mm long, 3 to 5.5 mm wide and suddenly contract into a thin nail at the base. The anthers are 2 to 2.5 mm long and are strongly curved outwards in a spiral at the base and tip. The stems of the fruit are 8 to 16 mm long. The pods are 25 to 50 mm long and 1.5 mm wide. The rostrum of the fruit is 3 to 4 mm long and is barely separated from the rest of the fruit, which contains one or two seeds. The seeds are oblong, ovoid to ovoid, about 1.3 mm long and 0.6 to 0.75 mm wide, slightly compressed, reddish-brown and smooth.
The base number of chromosomes is x = 8; There are diploid and tretraplodic stocks, i.e. 2n = 16 and 32.
