M.gilensis Boed. in Backeberg & F.M. Knuth, Kaktus ABC, 385, 1935, name only; in Jahrb. Deutsch, Kakt. Ges. 1:60, with fig. 1936.
Stem simple, globose or shortly cylindric, (with watery sap); axils with fine white bristles. Central spines 3, rarely 4, the upper 2 or 3
straight, up to 7mm. long, the lowermost up to 10mm. long, hooked, brownishyellow, smooth; radial spines 20-25 or 30, 5-6mm. long, whitish or yellowish hair-like. Fls. 12-15mm. in diameter, cream with rosy midstripe to perianth segments. Fruit small, clavate (colour?); seed 'dark brownish gray', pitted.
Mexico: Aguascalientes, near San Gil. Described from plants communicated by Herrn. Georgi to Boedeker in 1934.
