Uba lily (姥lily, buckwheat leaf shell mother, scientific name: Cardiocrinum cordatum) is a perennial herb of the genus Uba lily of the lily family. It grows wild in mountainous forests. It bears flowers similar to lilies, but the leaves are very different. By the time the flowers are in full bloom, the leaves often wither, so it was named after a toothless "mother-in-law". As another name depending on the region, it is also called birch lily, mouse lily, ubayoro, mountain turnip, yabu lily, etc.
