A very unusual Buddleja with a mixture of bicoloured purple and white flowers and a few flowers on each raceme wholly white and a few wholly purple. Very floriferous with 15 – 20cm long flowers.

I have been curator of the National Collection at Longstock for the past 15 years and have never seen butterflies so attached to Buddleja flowers

HISTORY

ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO I FOUND A VARIEGATED FLOWER ON BUDDLEJA ‘ROYAL RED’ I SELF-POLLINATED AND SAVED THE SEEDS

After extensive trials in my garden, I selected the seedling that has been named Berries and Cream.

• Flower Colour: bicoloured purple and white
• Habit: erect
• Eventual height: 2 to 2.5 metre 6-7ft x 1 to 1.5 metres wide
• Hardiness: Very hardy - 20°C USDA zones 5-9
• Leaf colour: Green
• Flowering: Very floriferous. The flowers are 15-20cm (6 -8") in length
• Fragrance: Sweetly scented and rich in nectar
• Situation: Prefers a sunny position
• Wildlife: Excellent for bees, butterflies and other insects. Deer and rabbit resistant.
