Streptocarpus Gloria

Streptocarpus 'Gloria'은 아프리카와 마다가스카르 일대의 숲이 우거진 지역이 원산지로 흔히 바이올렛이라 부르는 제비꽃을 닮아 아프리카 바이올렛이라고도 부른다. 파란색, 흰색 등 다양한 색의 꽃을 봄부터 가을까지 피우는데, 일부 종은 일 년 내내 꽃을 피울 수도 있다. 푸른 잎과 예쁜 꽃을 보기 위해 주로 실내에서 화초로 키우는데, 직사광선을 피하고 물을 지나치게 주지만 않으면 따로 관리가 필요하지 않아 인기가 많다.

S. ‘Gloria’ is a very floriferous cultivar, a pale pink sport of the pale blue S. ‘Falling Stars’. Note that there is significant variation in the color intensity of the flowers. They open a nice clear pale pink and fade to a paler color sometimes approaching white. Not nearly so widely grown as ‘Falling Stars’, it’s under-appreciated and worth searching out.

quite widely popular variety "gloria" does have small flowers, but it has a lot of them. They look to plant very romantic. Probably because of the direction of rotation of individual flowers to light.
