Miltonia spectabilis var. moreliana A.Rich.

A unique South American species from Venezuela and southeastern Bahia, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo states of Brazil Perhaps the best of the spectabilis with superb, extra large size deep grape-purple flowers. This is the tetraploid form. It also carries the fragrance of black licorice.

ORIGIN: Found in Venezuela and southeastern Bahia, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo states of Brazil.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with ovate, very light green, laterally compressed, smooth, ancipitous pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, light green, spathulate, apically asymetric, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate base leaves that blooms in the summer on a basal, 4 to 6 [10 to 15 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence enveloped completely by imbricating, flat, thin bracts.
