Dwarf epiphytic herb, forming dense clumps, flowering when leafless or with the new leaves. Pseudobulbs ovoid or globose, 2-6-leaved. Leaves lanceolate or ligulate, glossy green. Inflorescence densely 2-12-flowered. Flowers (in var. johnstonii) not opening wide, predominantly green and white, but sometimes flushed with purple. Sepals fleshy, densely hairy on the outside; dorsal sepal 10-13 mm long, ovate; lateral sepals obliquely ovate. Petals 7-10 mm long, oblanceolate. Lip hairy on the underside near the base, fleshy, much recurved; callus with numerous clavate hairs.
