Collomia biflora. Plant of great ornamental value, of Chilean origin and low height whose flowers can be pink or red. Its scientific name is Rhododendron Indicum but it is known by its common name Red/Coxine Colomia or Tree Roses.
Description
Collomia biflora is a shrubby plant 30-40 cm tall, with resistant foliage with elliptical leaves usually dark green, its abundant, bell-shaped flowers of 5 petals that can be pink or red grouped in abundant inflorescences. Its stems are woody. They bloom in summer in the months July-August. This acidophilic plant can be indoor or outdoor; In pots it grows up to 60 cm and outdoors up to more than 2 meters.
Environment and exhibition
The ideal temperature ranges between 12 and 24 degrees Celsius, it needs a bright and well-ventilated environment, it is more suitable to have it to a semi-shade exposure because direct sun is not recommended, much less in hot climates.
Propagation and care
The most appropriate multiplication is through cuttings, which should be kept in water for at least 10 minutes, then apply a rooting hormone and plant them in a moist substrate. The cuttings will take root between 70 and 90 days, during which time they should be in the shade in a humid and warm environment. When sowing cuttings, it must be taken into account that the soil where it is going to be planted must be acidic, humid and rich in organic matter.
Substrate and fertilizers
