ORIGIN: Found in the western Himalayas, the eastern Himalayas, the Chinese Himalayas, Nepal and Myanmar on turf on open hillsides, on damp rocks, and in open damp grazed meadows under rhododendron at elevations of 2800 to 4500 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with a glabrous stem carrying a single, ovate to ovate-elliptic, subacute, channeled, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a glabrous, erect, densely 1 to 5 flowered inflorescence with a lanceolate, acute floral bract.
