Epidendrum falcatum, synonym Coilostylis falcata, is an orchid native to Mexico and Honduras.

The thick, lanceolate leaves are long and unusually pendent, growing up to 30 cm from a reduced pseudobulb The large, snow-white flowers grow from a shorter flower spike in overhanging tufts of no more than three flowers. These flowers are fragrant at night. They bloom in late spring.

It was first described by John Lindley in 1840. It was transferred from Epidendrum to Coilostylis by Withner and Harding in 2004, but this is not accepted by Plants of the World Online.

ORIGIN: Endemic to Mexico where it is found on limestone rocks and cliffs in pine and pine oak cloud forests, and xerophytic shrub and thorn forests at altitudes of 1000 to 2100 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cool growing lithophytic species with pendant, fusiform pseudobulbs carrying a single, articulate, coriaceous-fleshy, narrowly linear-lanceolate, acute, sickle shaped leaf that flowers in the spring and summer on a terminal, 2 [5 cm] long, umbelliform raceme arising on a newly maturing pseudobulb with 4 to 8, large, simultaneously opening flowers that have a soapy smell at night.
