Under TreesThis epiphytic fern, commonly known as the Bear's Paw Fern because of its hairy brown paw-like rhizome.
This is a very pretty fern arching, glossy, pinnate fronds to 1m.
The lower part of each frond has wide smooth pinnae and is barren while the upper fertile part has much narrower pinnae with prominent brown sori on the underside.
Lovely addition to a fernery or understorey planting.
Soil: Will grow in course, humus rich soil or epiphytically outside.
Maintenance: Water regularly during the growing season, during the winter months unless very dry will require any additional water.
The rhizomes can be divided in spring.
