Prostrate perennial. Leaves hairless, shiny, bright green, entire, to 20 in., pointed at tip; upper leaves clasp stem. Flower head deep yellow; large central flower head with small side flower heads tops stem. Ray flowers 8–18, rays 1–2 in. long, 2–3 teeth on tip, central disk of many flowers. Grows in dry meadows, open places.
