Villadia aristatais a species of the family of Crassulaceae, commonly called, evergreen, shells or stone flower (Crassulaceae), within the order Saxifragales in what we commonly call dicotyledonous plants, although today they are grouped within Magnoliopsida. The name of the genus was given in honor of Dr. Manuel Villada (1841 – 1924), who was a physician, botanist and editor of the magazines "La Naturaleza", the speciesV. aristata, refers to the presence of edges in the leaves, sepals and petals.
Plant glabrous, but papillose, thick roots, dense winter rosettes, 1-2.5 cm in diameter, flower stems 1-3 dm high that die to near the base after flowering; leaves oblong-lanceolate to oblanceolate, acute, somewhat keeled at the apex, spurred, 8-16 mm long, green, inflorescence subspiked to subpaniculate 20 cm tall, with 12-100 flowers, pedicels less than 1 mm long, sepals broadly lanceolate, acute, 35-45 mm long; corolla ellipsoid or subglobose, 4-5 mm long, white to pink; petals with subapical mucron; ovary short, short style. Chromosomes n = 10.
It is endemic to Mexico, in the states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí.
Type locality: San Luis Potosí: western slope of the Sierra de Álvarez.
It has been observed in areas of coniferous forest up to about 3,800 meters above sea level.
