It is a shrub reaching 1–1.5 m tall; the stems scattered stellate-pubescent to glabrescent. The leaves are lanceolate or ovate, sometimes 3-lobed, acute at the apex, subcordate or truncated at the base, serrate. Pedicels 0.5–6 cm long; calicular bracteoles 8–9, linear, as long or longer than calyx, calyx 0.6–1 cm long, ciliated at margins, without nectaries; the petals 1–2 cm long, lilac or sometimes white. The fruits in capsules 0.9–1.3 cm long, with seeds 2.5 mm long.
