Krameria cystoides is a perennial shrub in the family Krameriaceae. The biological action of members of the genus is caused by the astringent rataniatanic acid, which is similar to tannic acid.Members of Krameria are found in America, mostly native to tropical regions. An example of an occurrence is on the La Campana hill in central Chile, where it is associated with Chile's wine palm, Jubaea chilensis.They are perennial shrubs that act as parasites on the roots of other plants. The flowers have glands called elaiophores that produce a lipid that bees of the genus Centris collect when they pollinate the flowers.
