The 'Concord Blue' cape primrose (Streptocarpus saxorum 'Concord Blue'), sometimes called false African violet, originate from South Africa, according to the Missouri Botanical Garden website. These herbaceous plants produce purplish-blue flowers throughout the growing season against a background of dark green fleshy foliage. The Proven Winners website notes that 'Concord Blue' (Streptocarpella 'Concord Blue') cape primroses grow as perennials in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 9a through 11b, but will grow in containers in any zone. These plants prefer full to partial shade and fast draining, nutrient-rich soil.
