Tamaya is a rhizomatous benonia. It produces a thick body, from 60 cm to 1 m high, which begins to bend without piles higher than 60 cm. Its replacement leaves are also noticeable. Very long and asymmetrical, they show a green satin detail, which is detected in silver. Long and dangling, they highlight the similarity with a bamboo.

The flowers are born in a cluster of shafts of the leaves. They form small clusters of pink flowers. Begonia maculata is dioecious: male and female flowers are born by different plants. It takes both to get the seeds.

Begonia maculata var. wightii, showing more deciduous foliage: its leaves are emphasized with large white spots. Its flowers are white.

Tamaya's long sticks show clear peak dominance, but once it's over, it branched out. Therefore, the plant can be formed as desired, leading it on an umbrella, in a wide bush, or to grind its height and avoid the need for a guardian.
