dischidia platyphylla식물/들꽃-협죽도과(Apocynaceae) 2021. 12. 16. 11:29
Though a relative of the much loved Hoya genus, this fascinating Dischidia is relatively unknown within the plant community. What we do know is that this mysterious epiphyte is also known as the ‘Shingle Plant’ due to the way it’s uniquely floppy and flubby leaves overlap each other as they attach themselves to a surface. It has a beautifully symbiotic relationship with ants too. The little critters bring in nutrients for the plant and fight off predatory insects and in exchange, the Dischidia provides them shelter and refuge after a long hard day. As a native of the rainforests of Indo-China, it likes bright but diffused dappled light, and like many other epiphytes, wants to dry out a bit in between waters. Though it may not be well known, there is no denying this plant’s understated coolness.

We think we have a few common passions with you. For plants, it's one thing, but above all for unique beauty. Because here is another proposal before you, a rare variety of plant. This dischidia is characterized by long, green shoots from which fleshy leavesgrow, but they twist into rolls, giving the plant an interesting form. It looks interesting, especially among other creepers. So it is worth combining it with species.
Thanks to the bright green of its leaves, it looks beautiful against the background of bright colors and in uniform or subtle color casings.
