Cornflowers are sentimental favorites and of easiest culture, the numerous bees buzzing around the blooms a clue to their value in pollinator gardens. Quick to bloom, they can be sown again in June for fresh blooming plants in early fall. Try a fall sowing in zones 7-10 for vigorous blooming plants earlier in the season. At home in the cutting garden, veggie garden, border and meadow garden, they continue in bloom if picked often for bouquets. Pull some edible petals to brighten up salads, freeze inside ice cubes and more. Self sows.
